DTC Computers and Open Labs in the Spring

With the introduction of the many production courses offered now in the DTC Program, it has become imperative that we ensure accessibility to computers and assistance with learning software programs outside of class time.

Update on Computers
Many of you know that when we created the new Mac Lab we also ordered six Macs for the various Drop In Labs on campus. They are finally installed now in the labs located in VMMC, the library, and in VCL. The two Macs in VMMC have Final Cut installed. All six of them have the CS3 package (Flash, Dreamweaver, PhotoShop, etc.)

Additionally, we have order After Effects for the Digital Narration course that is being taught this spring by Peter Burr. Copies will be installed in all computers in VMMC 111 and all computers in the Drop In Labs––and the Mac in VMMC 103 and in my lab (VCL 3).

Open Lab in VMMC 111
During Spring 2008 Dr. John Barber has volunteered to offer a special Drop In lab on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to noon. All DTC students are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to use the computers outside of class time with special assistance from him. This means that those of you creating projects using Final Cut or Flash do not have to move from the computer you use in class––a problem that arose in the fall for many of you in Advanced Multimedia Authoring. Those of you registered for John's Multimedia Authoring course (DTC 355) this spring will be able to complete assignments easily before your class begins at noon.
